Why Thinking Big Will Massively Improve Your Micro Businesses Success

Why did you start your own business?

You may think this is a random question for a blog sharing strategies to help you do more in less time, but bear with me because your answer is extremely relevant.

That’s because your why determines what happens in your business because it influences:

    • The goals you set
    • The wealth you wish to create
    • The risks you’re prepared to take
    • The effort you decide to put in

Take me for example. I started SpinLessPlates because I wanted more control over my financial security and my lifestyle. I didn’t just want an income (I could get a job to do that), but instead I wanted the ability to achieve my personal dreams.

Does that sound familiar?

You see, once you take the helm of your own micro business you empower yourself with a vehicle to make your dreams happen. You can influence your wealth, your working hours, your associates, your day-to-day tasks. It’s great.

But it’s not all straightforward and the dreams you want to fulfil will be completely influenced by the size of your thinking.

As you think bigger, so you ask bigger questions

The size of you thinking determines the level of your success. That’s because:

1.   You can only implement the ideas you have.
2.   You can only make happen what you believe is possible.
3.   Your self-belief is your tightest straightjacket.
4.   The amount of stuff you get done is determined by what you believe is possible.

Can you see where this is going?

Option 1: Think small, undermine your confidence, convince yourself it’s not possible and make excuses. Outcome: Mediocre business.

Option 2: Think BIG, expand your view of what’s possible, believe without doubt you can do it and allow the how to evolve. Outcome: Your business will achieve the type of success you only dreamed was possible.

Choose option 2 and you’ll harness the awesome power of the human subconscious.

Have you ever had an experience where you’ve desperately wanted something but just couldn’t find a way? But because your desire was so strong you kept focusing on it. Then suddenly the answer came to you. Somehow the “how” emerged.

Well this is what happens when you think big and ban doubt. When you really want something you naturally ask empowering questions such as:

    • How can I make it happen?
    • How can I do more?
    • How can I raise my profit by 500%?
    • How can I attract those customer to achieve it?

And if you keep questioning, pressing and seeking, your subconscious will work to find a solution.

You just need to keep that internal saboteur in check. And if it starts telling you “it’s not going to work” or “you’re not good enough”, simply drown it out, shut it up and tell it where to go.

Your path to micro business success requires BIG goals

Of course there is more to hefty success than thinking big.

You’ve also got to plan to make it happen and take the action required to achieve it.

Here’s a great quote from Tony Robbins:

If you talk about it, it’s a dream, if you envisage it, it’s possible, but if you schedule it, it’s real”.

That’s why your to do lists, Power Hour and other productivity and business management tools are so important for the hungry micro business owner.

And there’s stacks of stuff out there to help you. One of my favourites is a vision board. They are easy to make but highly effective. Simply create a collage of pictures, images and words that represent what you want to achieve and then place it in a prominent position so you are constantly reminded. After all, have you noticed that whatever you focus on is what you become?

Let me finish with another question.

What do you need to deliver in your business to make your dreams a reality?

The late, great Jim Rohn once said:

The greatest reward in becoming a millionaire is not the amount of money that you earn. It is the kind of person that you have to become to become a millionaire in the first place”.

Just by setting a goal that’s going to stretch, challenge and scare the hell out of you is going to totally transform what you become to achieve the business goal.

So is it time to set your goals with fresh (big) eyes?

If so, get a feel for where you’ve limited your aspirations in the past because fear and lack of confidence has got in the way. And make a promise to yourself right now to NEVER again limit your success by setting goals you know are totally achievable and within your comfort zone.

Instead, think big and plan to make the stuff happen that’s going to help you fulfil your dreams (you know, the ones you had when you started your business in the first place!) Or put another way, if anything was possible, what would you make happen?

Think BIG.

I dare you
